SINCE 1978

Crown (CEREC)

We offer many different types of restorations to help you regain your ability to chew, reinforce your teeth and improve their appearance.  Your dentist is knowledgeable about many techniques and materials.

Two appointments are needed for some restorations, such as all-ceramic crowns.

CEREC: A brief history

Medical and dental technologies have been constantly evolving since the mid-1980s, especially following the introduction of computer-assisted design and manufacturing. Today, dental offices can handle the entire dental restoration manufacturing process in-house.

With CEREC technology, we can make and install restorations in a single appointment!

How does it work?

There are 4 steps to the CEREC procedure, all carried out during the same appointment.  First, we perform an optical scan of your mouth.  Then, we produce a digital design of the restoration.  Once the model is ready, we select a ceramic block and proceed with the manufacturing step. The restoration is made in a small milling chamber.

Finally, we install the restoration. Whether it’s a crown or inlay, we carefully adjust the restoration before we secure it using dental cement.

Advantages of CEREC

  • Non-invasive dental impressions
  • Use of standard ceramic that is both durable and biocompatible
  • Attractive restorations
  • Precise, comfortable and durable results
  • Involves just one appointment and the use of local anaesthetic only
  • No temporary prostheses required

At Casselman Dental Clinic, we use CEREC to produce ceramic crowns and other types of restorations. This technology has so many advantages—we’ll be happy to explain them all during your next visit.
